ブレミエスは、顔—目、鼻、口—が胸に直接位置する首のないヒューマノイドの種族でした。古代ギリシャとローマの歴史書に最初に記録されたこれらの空想的な存在は、世界の遠く未開の辺境に住んでいると信じられていました。世界中にブレミエスのイラストレーションが数多くあり、それらはピリ・レイスの地図（1513年）に描かれています。
